I wanted to open a Bank of America checking account. And you know its a pain to drive up to the branch and fill up the form and signup for an account. So I tried online.. found the link and was ready to signup. Then thought .. wait a minute. If sites can give away free ipod nanos and shuffles for signing up for credit cards, netflix etc .. someone must be giving away something free for signing up for a bank account !! But I read somewhere that one of the main motivation behind such websites is to get and sell your information .. so I was not ready to signup for a bank account through any third party. I googled more .. and after some persistence found the Bank of America page which gives you $100 for just signing up for a new bank account.

I found links to all kinds of bank account offers.. for eg they pay you $50 if you have a checking account already and you open a savings account. Citibank is one bank who had the most offers. And if you are signing up for a credit card, there are much better offers. So next time you sign up for something … search for an offer and get some free cash !! Free money is always sweet !

One interesting thing is that lot of these offers are not advertised much. I think they do not want everyone to find it. Big and reputed banks do not need to depend on these offers to get new customers.. but they know there are people like you and me who would surely signup immediately if they throw away some cash or gifts
