Experienced strange Google problem ! Anyone ?
Around 12 hrs back, I found that no webpage with Google adsense ads were getting displayed on my computer. The pages would load partially, upto the point where the adsense ads were and the browser would try to get the ad and retry continously. I tried with both firefox and IE. Saw the problem for multiple sites. I know that adsense ads are in an iframe but still.
I had some important updates to make to my site .. so i disabled javascript and all pages were loading fine. Firefox has a simple icon to click to disable javascript. The problem was around for an hour and then things were fine without any change from my side. Gmail was fine but google personalised page was not loading .. same retries.
Then I tried loading one of the sites which has adsense ads through a proxy (the ones which get the html page and display) … same problem. I am not sure if any of you experienced a similar problem.
Anyway, the problem is gone now … but I was thinking if for some reason the adsense code can mess up a page, a significant part of the web will be affected !!! .. yes .. including Google !! The fact that the adsense ads are in an iframe theoretically means that only that page will not load. But I saw the problem where my browser could not load the content page at all. A possible explanation (Gurus can tell us the real reasons) I can come up with… is if we have an iframe which uses ajax and tried to load content into the iframe every millisecond (due to a bug in the iframe javascript code), then the browser will incessantly try to load the iframe and cannot load the other parts of the page. Something similar happened to my browsers (both IE and firefox) and half the web was inaccessible to me !! Experts can help me find the actual reason ….

I too experienced the same problem last night off and on and again this morning. I even had trouble with Google search. You are right about affecting the web. Pages with AdSense in the header would not load the rest of the page. This does not seem to be nationwide or everyone would be screaming.
